3D Christmas Tree Kit
History
When I was a freshman in High School, we had a brand new electronics class available in which we built kits, usually from Velleman or Grayhill. I remember building a transistor radio and a 120VAC to 6/12VDC power supply, as an example. These kits were educational in teaching you, not only how to build the device, but how the device works. This a fairly simple kit, but still provides an interesting project in the end and takes me back to those early days of building kits.
Getting Started
This kit is listed as a difficulty of 1 out of 5. A 9V battery is required, as is a soldering iron. Everything else is included in the kit. The schematic and assembly instructions are printed on the inside of the package insert, along with some other useful information.

First, the LEDs were installed on one half. Then, the remaining components and battery springs were installed. Next, the LEDs were installed on the other half, followed by the remaining components. Finally, the two halves were joined and the leads were installed, tying the two halves together. Once the battery is added, it serves as a stand (see video below).
